Creating a blog logo. A blogo?

Linea Forma, Italian for “line and form”, was never easy for people to pronounce without hearing it once. Or several times.

The blog, Giobbi Designs, suffers a bit from the same problem. My Italian surname has been pronounced more ways than I can count. After a lifetime of pronouncing it carefully during introductions, I often add a follow-up of “just pronounce every other letter in my last name”.

The blog logo shows the G, O and B in blue with the long pronunciation line over the O. Say the 3 letters and you pronounce my name. Who knows. It just might work. (Nonetheless, I will answer to just about anything.)

And I used the active word “designs”, because I wanted to express my ongoing daily objective of “living by design”. I’ll use the blog to present my thoughts about design as I see it and live it, as well as to comment on how other designers see it … generally, my thoughts on design. And expect guest postings as well.

As a closing note, back when Star Wars first came out, yes the the first one, friends started calling me “G-O-B Wan”, as in Obi-Wan Kenobi. It’s always stuck as my nickname. Now, with the return of Star Wars, and the start of this new blog, I’ve taken bgob1 for my signature. May the creative force be with us all.

Thanks, Jeff. It’s still with me. I hope you can get out here to see us, and vice versa, real soon.
